Spring Start & Being Present
February 5, 2022

Dear Saint Mary’s Students

Welcome back to all of our returning students for the Spring 2022 semester, and once again, welcome to Saint Mary’s College the more than 100 new SMC students who will join our community as Gaels.

Let us celebrate our return to classes and our hard work to create a safe working and educational environment for faculty, staff, and students during the COVID-19 pandemic. We remain impressed with our entire community as we have managed through the ways that COVID-19 continues to impact us. It hasn’t been easy, but the willingness to work hard and do what is necessary has made all the difference.

By adhering to the protocols, wearing masks, and monitoring your health, you are what made us successful in Fall 2021. You contribute to our shared success whenever you engage in classes, complete coursework, or participate in campus activities.

We want to take a moment to remind our campus community of our commitment to our Lasallian Core Principles as we continue to live lives of consequence and work towards the advancement of these values.  As we begin this semester with new and unique challenges, let us be reminded that we are also given new opportunities to be present. We encourage you to maintain relationships with classmates and friends, plan an adventure over the weekend, connect with others and understand there are complexities, and most importantly, take time to give a little extra to one another.

It's GO time for Spring 2022. Find a Campus Event to meet new friends, show your Gael pride at a Game, hit up the Rec Center for a fitness class or pick-up basketball, visit Gael Pantry for basic needs or donate to the Free Store. Also, please remember that facial coverings are required in all indoor spaces, including the classrooms, the recreation center, and the University Credit Union Pavilion.
