Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI)

Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI)
Body

CITI human subjects training is required for all human subjects researchers (faculty, students, and staff). The training must be fulfilled by all participating researchers (faculty, students, and staff) prior to submitting your IRB application or signing up for the IRB Certified Research Personnel workshop. Applications will not be reviewed without the appropriate CITI certificate of completion. It is a requirement that application to IRB includes the certificate of CITI training completion. The training is offered online through the CITI. There is no cost for completing this training.

If you are new to this training program, you first need to establish your own account and list Saint Mary’s College of California as your affiliated institution. Navigate to the page that lists courses under Human Subjects Research (HSR). Complete the following course that best fits your research project area. If your project is sponsored by a federal grant, you also need to complete the Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Basic course. Please allow ample time to complete these CITI courses prior to submitting your IRB application.

  • Social-Behavioral-Educational (SBE) Basic Course
  • Biomedical (Biomed) Basic Course

If you are renewing your CITI certification (as federally required every 3 years), please complete the following course that best fits your research project area:

  • Social-Behavioral-Educational (SBE) Refresher 1 Course
  • Biomedical (Biomed) Refresher 1 Course
