Weekend of Welcome 2022 will take place August 25-28. Fall classes begin on Monday, August 29.
Your guides for Weekend of Welcome are Student Leaders (WoWies), who will answer your questions, give advice and show you around!
After move-in day, you, as a new student, get to take part in Weekend of Welcome—you'll participate in activities that focus on coursework, programs that complement the curriculum, and activities that will help you get acquainted with your new home.
The full schedule continues to be developed and will be finalized mid-August. Check this page often for the latest additions to Weekend of Welcome 2022!
1-3pm - New Student Move-In*, Residence Halls
*Limited to students registered to attend New Student Orientation on Aug. 24.
8:30-5pm - New Student Orientation, Check-In at the Soda Center
9am-1pm - New Student Move-In*, Residence Halls
Last Name A-L: 9am-11am, Last Name M-Z: 11am-1pm
3-4pm - Student Life Meet & Greet*, Dryden Hall and 1928 Pub
Students and families are invited to mix and mingle with representatives from various Student Life departments. Light refreshments will be served; alcohol available for purchase (must be 21 to purchase)
4:30pm - Welcome Liturgy*
5pm - Farewell BBQ*, Chapel Lawn
Families and students are invited to join the Saint Mary's community for a traditional BBQ on Chapel Lawn. Families will be asked to depart after the BBQ.
7pm - Meet Your WoWie
Your Weekend of Welcome Leader is a returning students that will guide you through the weekend's activities and serve as a resource to you. Your WoW group number will be available on your residence hall room. Be sure to that number with you to the Farewell BBQ!
8pm - College Life Live, Soda Center
9pm - First Hall Meeting, Residence Halls

9am - New Student Convocation
New Student Convocation is your official welcome to the Saint Mary's academic community. This campus tradition features a keynote address from President Plumb.
12pm - Lunch, Oliver Hall
1pm - First Year Advising Cohort Meeting, Various Classrooms
3:30pm -Yes! Yes! Yes! Coming to Terms with Consent and Preventing Sexual Violence with Jeff Bucholz - Yes! Yes! Yes! uses humor, audience interaction, popular culture analysis, and performance to take a critical look at the ways in which our culture facilitates sexual violence. Participants will explore ideas about healthy sex, obtaining consent, and the role popular culture plays in promoting unhealthy ideas about sex and consent.
10am - Living in Community, Various Locations
What does it mean to be a part of the Saint Mary's community? Together with others from your residence hall, you will learn about how you can be an active, responsible member of your community. Resident Advisors will share tips and tricks for making the most of your time at SMC.
1-4pm - Campus Rec Pool Party, Joesph L. Alioto Recreation Center
Cool off at this annual event which features contests, games and more!
4:30pm - Paint the SMC, Meet on De La Salle Lawn
Many have left their mark on the SMC on the hill during this campus tradition. Get ready to get messy...there are no paint brushes!
8pm - WoW Carnival, De La Salle Lawn
The WoW Carnival is a signature campus event hosted by the WoWies. The event features carnival games, food and prizes. You don't want to miss it!
10-5pm - Bay Area Trips
Explore different Bay Area locations with Weekend of Welcome Leaders and learn how to utilize Bay Area public transporation. BART tickets included but participants are responsible for any off campus purchases.
5-7pm - Welcome Back BBQ, De La Salle Lawn
8pm - Mass, Chapel
9-11pm - Late Night Breakfast, Oliver Hall
