Wo/Men's Symposium (2017)

Craving for Change
March 11, 2017 from 10AM-4PM in the Soda Center

Dear Friends,

On March 11th, the Women's Resource Center in collaboration with Women's and Gender Studies, Mission & Ministry, the Intercultural Center, Residential Experience and the Campus Committee for Inclusive Excellence will host a Wo/men's Symposium with the theme 'Craving for Change' from 10-4 in the Soda Center. Please join us and encourage students to participate as well. It is free for the SMC community and $10 for outside participants. The event will kick off at 10am with a poverty simulation, giving participants the opportunity to consider the nuances of food insecurity, housing, educational and employment access as they relate to gender, race, class and other social obstacles.

After a delicious lunch, participants will have an opportunity to participate in an empowerment workshop, as the facilitator leads them through exercises of resiliency in the face of challenging times.

Finally, if you missed out on SMC's VDAY presentation this year, you won't want to miss the final session. Students will present "Stories of Resistance," a collection of monologues and spoken word pieces addressing issues from locker room talk to interpersonal violence to love. There will also be an open-mic at this event.

Please reserve your spot today!

Stay tuned for more exciting events and opportunities related to Women's History Month!

Thank you for your support!
