1. When is Summer Session?

Summer Session runs from June 1 through August 23, 2020.  It  depends on the week course you might be registering. (4,6,8 weeks) (2nd Summer Term).  Most courses meet Monday thru Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. or 1:00 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. There are no classes on the Fourth of July. (7/4/20)

Last day to Register for 4,6,8 weeks 2020 Summer Session Course is Monday, June 1, 2020

Last day to Register for the 2nd Term 2020 Summer Session Course is Monday, July 23, 2020

Attention All SMC Seniors:  If you have two or less courses to complete your graduation requirements and are eligible to walk at Commencement.  You could be eligible to get a 50% discount. This offer is only for SMC Students who have been attending SMC.  ***Travel course does not get this discount.

2. How do I know which courses are being offered and what is credit?

Most courses equal one full Saint Mary’s credit (3.5 units). 

3. When and how do I register for Summer Session?

For SMC students, registration will open Monday, March 2, 2020. You can register on GaelXpress, and it will remain open throughout the spring semester for courses with openings.

For non-SMC students, you must fill out the open enrollment form on the registrar site and submit it to the registrar.

4. Do I need the approval of my academic advisor to register?

No. It is always good to consult with your academic advisor to check which courses you need, but you do not need advisor approval to register for Summer Session.

5. What is the cost of Summer Session and is financial aid available?

The tuition cost for a full credit in 2020 Summer Session is pending. The fee for Summer Session activity course and Chemistry Lab are listed by the course information.

Saint Mary’s financial aid is not available, but officers in the Financial Aid Office are available to help you review your financial aid profile to seek a personal loan if you are interested.

6. Are housing and meals available and how do I apply?

Housing is available for the 2020 summer session. Visit the Campus Housing webpage to apply online.  If you have any questions, contact the Campus Housing Office at (925)-631-4241 or housing@stmarys-ca.edu.

7. When can I make a deposit for Summer Session?

Right away. Current Saint Mary’s students may go to the Business Office and make a deposit at any time, then register for a course starting Monday, March 2, 2020  and students may begin making deposits for Summer Session on Monday, February 25, 2020.

8. When will I know if I got into a course?

When current students register on GaelXpress, it will tell you if the course is still open. Like all terms, there is a possibility that a course could be cancelled, but most likely you are in the course once you register.

Entering transfer students and non-SMC students should contact the Registrar’s Office for current course enrollment information.

9. How do I know if I am in the right course?

You should meet with your advisor to review your entire list of courses taken, requirements for graduation, and which Summer Session course is right for you.
