An Academic Early Alert (AEA) is an alert system that notifies your advisor and coach about an area of concern that may be going on inside and outside of your classes. This tool is used to get you connected with resources and develop ways to improve your success as a Saint Mary's College student.
AEAs do not go on your student record.
Any Saint Mary's College faculty and staff member can submit an AEA. Your past and current professors, on campus supervisors, academic advisor, and success coach may submit one.
In some cases, you may have received an automated email in regards to your AEA. A Success Coach will reach out to you via email, text or phone in regards to the newly submitted alert within 72 hours.
If you have not already made contact with whomever submitted the AEA (faculty member, advisor, supervisor, etc.), please do so. Saint Mary's faculty and staff want to communicate and support you in regards to any alert. Your Success Coach is a great resource to assist you in creating a plan of action and answering any questions you may have.
Providing assistance early in the semester is very imporant to student's success in their collegiate career. Submitting an Academic Early Alert provides the student with extra support and resources to be successful.
It is important that you attempt to connect with your student prior to submission of an Academic Early Alert. Previous actions include, but are not limited to, meeting with, emailing, and calling the student. Please try to include your method of contact (including successful contact) in your AEA when possible.
The student will receive an automatic email informing them that an Academic Alert has been submitted along with a description of the alert. Academic Advisors and Success Coaches will contact students (via e-mail, text, & phone) within a 72 hour period.
