Stop by the Library to see all the improvements!

Over the summer, the Library worked with Facilities on renovations and installing new furnishings to provide a clean, quiet, and attractive space for research and studying. Come see the changes!

Our formerly cramped, plumbing-issue-prone restrooms--women’s, men’s, all-gender, and staff--were renovated with spacious new stalls and sparkling new tile.

Library walls with modern, gray, noise-canceling foam panelsTo minimize sound carrying and amplifying throughout the building, noise-absorbing panels were installed on the walls between each floor. Additional panels will be hung from the ceilings over winter break.

SMC Sensory Room with couch, rug, and soft lightingIn partnership with Student Disability Services, we repainted and redesigned one of our group study rooms to turn it into the SMC Sensory Room. This room gives priority availability to neurodiverse students on campus who work with the SDS office. The room is designed to promote calm, focus, and innovation, creating a place on campus that offers an oasis of serenity for students who need a quiet, darker space, and has assorted furnishings and lighting.

New library printerIT Services installed new, high-capacity multifunction printers that should cause fewer jams and will work with a new print-job-release system coming soon!

Table with staplers, tape, hole punches, and moreWe relocated and expanded our stapling, taping, and cutting station (due to plexiglass taking over the station's former location and so they are closer to the printers).

View of table with New Books sign and five books on it through the front window of the libraryWe now feature new books and special displays in our front window. See something you like? Come on in and check it out!
