Special Mass for the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

SMC Sociology Professor and guest preacher the Reverend Dr. Mark Wilson delivered a powerful homily during Sunday Mass to celebrate the life and legacy of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and to kick off the second annual 44 Days of Black History. Referring to John 2:1-11 where Jesus turned water into wine, Wilson used the wine as a metaphor for liberation and unity. He encourage the congregation to speak out as MLK did about injustice. Wilson carried his message of hope for better things to come by leading the song “This Little Light of Mine” to wrap up the service.
