Professional Overview: 
San Francisco cellist Sarah Fiene appears as a chamber music artist, recitalist and as a section player with orchestras such as the San Francisco Ballet. She has a class of private cello students, teaching cello and chamber music in San Francisco and Davis, California. Prior to moving to San Francisco, Sarah lived in New York City where she was involved in the freelance scene, working as a cellist with some of the city’s top ensembles. Sarah played her debut recital in Carnegie Recital Hall in 1991 as an Artist International Winner.

In San Francisco, ensembles Sarah has performed and toured with include Philharmonia Baroque, Empyrean Ensemble, the San Francisco Ballet and the San Francisco Symphony. For five seasons, she held the tenured position of Principal Cellist with the Sacramento Philharmonic Orchestra.  Sarah is the founder and Artistic Director of Ensemble Phoenix, formerly Trio Phoenix. 

Sarah has participated in numerous summer music festivals – Spoleto, Telluride, and Mendocino Music Festival and many others. Sarah received her Bachelor of Music from Indiana University School of Music where she studied with Janos Starker and a Master of Music from the University of Illinois.
