Zeynep Atalay


Professional Overview: 

Zeynep Atalay is an Associate Professor of Sociology at St. Mary's College of California.  She has received her PhD in Sociology from the University of Maryland in 2012. Her teaching and research interests are in transnational social movements, civil society, neoliberal authoritarianism, and political Islam. In her previous projects, she studied transnational Islamist NGO coalitions and the intersections between civil society and religion. Her current research examines state – trade union partnerships in authoritarian regimes.
