New York Times Covers Saint Mary's Science Professor's Study on Global Coal Production

The New York Times profiles a recent report, co-written by Saint Mary's Earth Science professor Gregory Croft, that suggests the world's coal mining production capacity is on the decline. Croft collaborated on the study with Tadeusz Patzek, a University of Texas engineering professor. The New York Times article, in the Energy and Environment section of the newspaper, says the co-authors forecast the world will hit "peak coal" production around 2011 or shortly thereafter, and then mining will drop steeply over a long period.
