KSOE Welcomes New Counseling Department Assistant & Visiting Professors

The Kalmanovitz School of Education Counseling Department welcomes two assistant professors and two visiting professors for the 2021–2022 academic year.

Assistant Professor Dr. Stephanie D'Costa received her PhD in Educational Psychology, with a concentration in School Psychology in 2017 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Since 2019 she has served as an assistant professor in the Department of Education & Leadership at California State University, Monterey Bay. Prior to that, she was a Postdoctoral Psychology Resident at WestCoast Children's Clinic in Oakland. She is a Licenced Clinical Psychologist and a Licenced School Psychologist in the state of California.

Dr. Kristen Freeman has an MA in counseling psychology from Santa Clara University, and an EdD with an emphasis on urban education from the University of Southern California. Dr. Freeman has experience in nonprofit, government, education, and community-based settings, and has experience providing counseling services to individuals, families, and groups, using traditional, holistic, and integrative approaches.

Dr. Luz Argelia Gómez has an MA and a PsyD in clinical psychology from The Wright Institute in Berkeley. Dr. Gómez has experience providing trauma informed clinical support for children, adolescents, and adults in community mental health clinics, outpatient, and school settings, using cognitive behavioral, psychodynamic, relational, and family based therapeutic models. 

Drs. Freeman and Gómez will join KSOE as visiting professors in the Marriage and Family Therapy/Professional Clinical Counselor specialization beginning February 8, 2021.
