Inclusive Excellence a Year In Review 2020

Since Kathy Littles ’94, Ph.D., joined the Saint Mary's College in July 2019 as the inaugural Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs and Senior Diversity Officer, the Saint Mary's College community has seen many highlights in our Lasallian commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts: 


2020 Highlights Include: 

  • New working group of faculty and staff convened to re-imagine the curriculum for Gaels Uniting for Inclusion and Diversity through Education (GUIDE)  workshop and training series 
  • Two cohorts of Faculty and Staff complete three-week Gaels Uniting for Inclusion and Diversity through Education (GUIDE) workshop series 
  • Four New Subcommittees added to the College Committee on Inclusive Excellence (CCIE)
    • Afro-Latinx/Latinx/ Indigenous Peoples Action Committee
    • Religious Diversity and Interfaith Engagement Committee
    • Asian Pacific Islander Committee
    • Gender Equity & Women’s History Month Committee
  • Ongoing Work in Inclusive Excellence with Deans
    • Collaboration on campus-wide initiatives 
    • Collaboration with Deans, Human Resources on academic department needs
  • Faculty Searches: Best Practices For Improving Faculty Diversity Recruitment and Retention Workshop Series 
    • 38 Candidate Interviews
  • New Faculty Onboarding and Orientation
    • Introduction of a two-year Faculty Mentorship Program
    • Fall and Spring New Faculty Monthly Workshops (R&T, Fellowships/Grants, writing support, resources, support, community) 
  • IT and Faculty Development Partner to offer Summer Workshop and Fall/Spring Online Workshop series
  • Council of Colleges of the Arts and Sciences provided two New Chair Orientations
  • Cross Campus collaborations with partners including, Human Resources, Mission and Ministry, and Student Life

As the Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs and Senior Diversity Officer, Dr. Littles looks forward to collaborating with the Saint Mary's College community in fighting structural racism and oppression in our effort to provide a place where everyone is seen and affirmed.
