2018 Benefit Information

We are pleased to share information on the 2018 benefit plans and open enrollment. The College’s Employee Benefits Advisory Committee (EBAC) has worked hard to keep benefits as consistent in plan design and cost as possible.  2018 plan highlights include:

Medical Plans

  • Kaiser & Health Net will remain our medical plan partners in 2018.  Both carriers will continue to offer the same HMO plans as 2017 without changes to coverage. 
  • The current cost sharing percentages between the College and employees will remain intact in 2018.  However, there will be modest changes to costs for each of the three medical plans in 2018 to account for negotiated annual plan increases ranging from 1.6% to 6.1%. These rate increases compare favorably to average area rate increases of 10%. Please review the cost sharing summary for details.
  • Effective January 1st, 2018 the College will offer a new Health Net HSA plan and increase the College’s annual HSA contribution from $300 to $750 per employee.  In order to assist employees in determining if the new HSA medical plan might be appropriate for them, we have scheduled the below information sessions: 
    • Tuesday 10/17/17 12:15p -1:00p (Soda Center)
    • Tuesday 10/17/17 3:30p - 4:15p (Soda Center)
    • Friday 10/20/17 10:00a - 10:45a (HR)
    • Monday 10/23/17 1:15p - 2:00p (Soda Center)

Dental Plans

  • Delta Dental will remain our sole Dental partner and both the PPO and HMO plans remain as is with no changes to cost or coverage from 2017.

Vision Plan

  • VSP will remain our vision plan partner without changes to cost or coverage from 2017.

Open Enrollment

Open Enrollment period will take place from October 16th through November 3rd 2017.  Medical, Dental and Vision elections must be completed through the College’s new online EaseCentral portal.  EaseCentral log-in instructions will be sent to your Saint Mary’s email address on Monday, October 16th.  We will have enrollment stations at the annual Benefits Festival in the Soda Center on Wednesday, October 18th from 10:00am - 2:00pm.   The following documents will assist you with your EaseCentral enrollment:

To avoid cancellation / interruption of your health insurance coverage in 2018, you must participate in open enrollment by completing your enrollment in the EaseCentral portal by November 3rd 2017. 

Navia Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)

For those interested in participating in the FSA (Navia) plans, as in years past, enrollment will be processed through the Navia website.  You will receive an email from Navia on Wednesday October 18th with 2018 enrollment instructions.  The deadline to complete the FSA 2018 enrollment is 11/30/17.

Unum Volunatry Policies

Unum offers several voluntary policies including Term Life, Accident, Critical Illness, and Whole Life.  The open enrollment period for these plans is 10/23/17 - 11/17/17.  To enroll in any of these plans you must contract their call center at 1-877-637-4376.

Long Term Care

We are pleased to announce we are now offering a new benefit that will help protect your assets and retirement in the event you need long term care. As an eligible employee (Tenured, Tenure Track, Salaried Adjunct and Staff), you are able to purchase long term care insurance at discounted, unisex rates and a shortened (Simplified Issue) health underwriting process.
