Internships & Student Employment

Each year the Graduate Kinesiology program offers different opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience. To learn more about these positions, please click the links below.

Graduate Student Coordinator Fellowships:
The students hired for these positions will be eligible to receive an academic scholarship (up to $2,500), in addition to being paid hourly.

Graduate Student Teaching Opportunities:
The students hired for these positions will be paid via a stipend throughout the semester.

Department of Kinesiology Student Employment Opportunities:
The students hired for these positions will be paid hourly throughout the year.

Federal Financial Aid

Federal financial aid in the form of student loans is available for those who qualify. To learn more about the types of loans available please visit the Finanical Aid Office's website. Scholarships

Graduate Kinesiology Leadership Scholarship

The Graduate Kinesiology Leadership Scholarship is given to incoming students (up to $3,000) who have demonstrated academic excellence and engagement throughout their undergradaute and/or professional career.  Qualifications include: 

1. Must have completed the application or have been admitted to the Master of Arts in Kinesiology program;

2. Have the potential to become a leader in the field of Kinesiology and/or the record of significant contribution to the field; and

3. Demonstrate appreciation for Lasallian principles - social justice, respect for all persons, and or inclusive community - upon which Saint Mary's is founded. 

Please submit a written statement, up to three pages in length, that addresses the qualifications listed above to Program Manager Joo Ae Chu at jlc2@stmarys-ca.edu by April 1, 2020 for the Summer 2020. 

Director's Engagement Scholarship

The Graduate Kinesiology Director's Engagement scholarship will be awarded to students (up to $3,000) who exemplify academic excellence and who are committed and engaged in the classroom and the Graduate Kinesiology community.  

Applicants should submit a 2-page paper that addresses the following two aspects: 1. past and current engagement in the classroom and contributions to the Graduate Kinesiology community; and 2. ideas and plans to foster community amongst current and future students, faculty and alumni.  

Please send your application to Program Manager Joo Ae Chu at jlc2@stmayrs-ca.edu by April 30, 2020 for consideration for Summer 2020. 

Private Scholarships

Students may also apply for private scholarships through websites such as Fastweb and iModulesClick here for a list of additional external scholarship opportunities that may apply.

Graduate and Professional Student Development Funds

Some funding is also available for independent research and professional development in the form of grants through the Graduate & Professional Student Research and Development Fund. Learn more here.

Tuition

Tuition for the 2019-2020 academic year is $978 per unit.

There are several types of financial assistance available for our students to help cover the cost of tuition including federal financial aid, scholarships, and student employment opportunities.
