Commencement Information

This year, the Graduate and Professional Studies commencement ceremony is scheduled to take place on Sunday, May 24, 2020. The procession will begin promptly at 9:00am in the Saint Mary's College Stadium at 1928 St. Mary's Rd, Moraga, CA 94575. There are no tickets required for this event so please feel free to invite as many guests as desired.

Here's how to prepare for Commencement 2020:

  • Fill out a Candidacy Form
  • Diplomas are sent to the permanent address on record with the Office of the Registrar. Please be sure to check your address on file and update it if needed by filling out a Change of Address form.
  • A $120 degree processing fee will be added to your student account during your final semester. This fee covers the processing of your degree. All students, regardless of whether or not they plan to participate in commencement ceremonies, must pay this fee to have their degree processed.  Degrees will not be awarded until all fees are paid.
  • Fill out a Graduate and Professional Studies Commencement Participation Form
  • Order your cap and gown
    • Choose "Master Degree Purchase"
    • Choose "SOLA (School of Liberal Arts) Kinesiology"
  • Continue to check your SMC email account monthly beginning January 10th, 2019 for our "March to Commencement" newsletter and stay informed!

Also note that Saint Mary's offers a variety of Cultural Graduate Celebrations. You can register online for these events. The deadline for registering for cultural graduation events is April 8, 2020 at 8:00 p.m.

The Graduate school grad fair is on Thursday March 19, 2020 between 3:30-7:30 in the SMC bookstore. 

Travel Tips:

For those of you traveling from out of the area, you'll want to look for hotels or Airbnb locations that are in Orinda, Moraga, Lafayette, or Walnut Creek for easiest access to campus. Saint Mary's College is located closest to Oakland International Airport, and the closest BART stations are in Orinda and Lafayette.
