We designed the Global Executive MBA schedule for professionals with demanding travel, family or work schedules. The Global Executive MBA meets twice a month, Saturday and Sunday, for 12 months, with online sessions on Wednesdays from 6:00-9:00 pm. There are also two overseas immersion trips.
While specific locations for the overseas visits may change each year, previous classes visited South America, Europe, Thailand, India, Indonesia, Africa, Cambodia, Singapore, and the Philippines.
The Global MBA incorporates transformational, purpose-driven journeys designed to engage business leaders with modern sustainability challenges around the world.
Previous trips included:
Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Chile, China, India, Indonesia, Kenya, New Zealand, Peru, Philippines, Rwanda, Spain, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Thailand, Uganda, United Arab Emirates, Zanzibar
Saint Mary’s Global Executive MBA Program gives students an opportunity to not only learn finance, accounting, and marketing principles but also put them into practice during two trips, lasting two weeks each, to developing nations.
Dr. Linda Herkenhoff and the Global Executive MBA Program project teams shared their cultural perspective and social service initiatives at a special presentation on the Saint Mary's College campus.
Our Global Executive MBA students worked on projects in Sri Lanka as part of their Lasallian/social justice focused coursework, improving financial sustainability for a hotel and conference facility, and working with a school development plan for Lasallian Educational Services, to give lower-income youth a new opportunity to rise above.
As part of the Global Executive MBA program, students traveled to India to meet personally with clients and marginalized communities, to work on projects aimed at improving local living conditions through work with non-profit organization Akansksha and Aahdhaar Card.
When Global Executive MBA student Erika Nunez '08 opened up a Mexican market called Mi Pueblito Market with her family in May of 2015, she directly applied the skills she learned in the classroom. Her hard work paid off—the family business won the New Business of the Year Award from the Truckee Chamber of Commerce on Oct. 14, awarded at The Resort at Squaw Creek.
Whether you own a small business with global ambitions or dream of being a social entrepreneur or aspire to run a business unit with a global reach, a Global Executive MBA provides the core MBA discipline while immersing you in cultural experiences. "Our Global MBA students traveled straight to India to meet personally with clients and marginalized communities as part of their Global Executive MBA program,” said Professor Linda Herkenhoff.
“Not many MBA programs go to developing countries and help rebuild or expand an NGO or overseas company. That was the kind of experience I wanted.”
“Saint Mary’s offered the best of both worlds - the social mission aspect and the format of the program. I had an education and experiences that I couldn’t have gotten anywhere else.”
“Not knowing your instructors or not having a relationship with them may be something that happens elsewhere, but that’s not how things work at Saint Mary’s.”
