Required Courses & Field Experience:

An individualized plan of study will be developed for students who are accepted into the program to earn their credential and who have already earned a clinical master’s degree in counseling or a related field from an approved program. Per the CCTC, previously earned field experience hours may not count towards the required total SC PPSC hours. Therefore, all credential students must take Counseling Skills II (COUN 602) and School Counseling Practicum & Action Research (COUN 703) while earning their 100 hours of practicum experience and Counseling Field Experience (COUN 793) while completing their 800 hours of field experience.

The Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) program in School Counseling has been approved by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) to offer an Intern Program for candidates who are entering their field placement and who wish to seek a paid internship in a K–12 school district.
