Characteristics of Effective Classroom Rules: A Review of The Literature

Classroom management textbooks, literature reviews and practioner-based articles have devoted considerable effort to describing the characteristics of effective classroom rules in K-12 Presentation 2016 classrooms. Unfortunately, this array of secondary sources has not been uniform in their recommendations.  The purpose of this presentation is first to examine the recommendations for effective classroom rules as they appear in non-empirically based articles, textbooks and other available secondary sources.  Second, the empirical literature will be examined to determine where the identified recommended features of effective classroom rules are supported by a research-based foundation.
