Gallery 160

Attend an exhibition opening, or stop by and see the work of an up and coming art star. Gallery 160 is a springboard for the large and diverse community of young artists at Saint Mary’s. Located in Brother Cornelius Art Center

Gallery 160 is dedicated to showcasing the work of SMC students. Through coursework and collaborations with visiting artists and art faculty, students have the opportunity to exhibit their work as they develop their own artistic style. Art majors exhibit capstone projects every semester.

Description:

Desiree Harris   May 6 - 11
Title: Let's go to space in my shiny cardboard box.

“Let's go to space in my shiny cardboard box” is a mini art film and immersive video installation fueled by imagination and creativity. Unlock your inner child and take a fun journey to space inside this giant shiny space where anything is possible as fun rap music, dope visuals, and a splash of child-like randomness make this fictional story come to life.

Bobbie Lewis   May 13 - 18
Title: You Are Only What You Allow Yourself To Be

This work explores aspects of “preconceived notions” as three socially constructed stereotypes journey through the four stages of life.

Dulce Cruz  May 20 - 25
Title: Dear disguise, am I you or me?

My work consists of photographs I took of reflections and architecture, which I created into collages.  This project explores the connection of emotional reactions and habit of emotional avoidance.  I am interested in exploring how humans use perfection as a body image standard which leads to dissatisfaction with one’s own image. , as well as the way people define themselves negatively because they look different.
